IBS or something else?

Hoping someone can help me with this. I have had a pain near my belly button since yesterday, at times so painful I couldnt stand straight. I have been having Rennie Rapeze but other than making me burp a lot..lol..its not doing much else.

I do suffer from IBS although havent had it for ages and thought it was just that (put it down to trapped wind as a result of cabbage night before!) However I still have the pain today, but not as intense. Has anyone else had anything like this and if so is there anything that will be more effective than what I have been using?

Thanks x

If you've had IBS in the past and this reminds you of the pain you had, then it's probably that. Otherwise as you say it hurts to stand, might it be a pulled or trapped muscle? Might be worth seeing the GP just to be on the safe side if it carries on?

or your appendix? worth checking out if the pain doesn't go away

Thanks for the replies. Did think of my appendix but severity of pain comes and goes. Cant ever remember IBS carrying over to next day.

Hi, I am a long time sufferer of IBS and I too have never known the symptoms persist overnight - lying down has always caused my pain/discomfort/bloating to go away. I think I would get it checked out especially if you still have the pains tomorrow.
Best wishes CM

I've had IBS in the past and I have known the pain to go on for days and days when it's been really bad. But there's other symptoms to look out for aren't there, like bloating / wind / constipation / diarrhea etc. If you've just got a pain that's nothing like you recognise I'd get it checked out. I wouldn't have thought appendix as that would give you fever and isn't it low on the right for that?
