my ds is taking 3 (1.25ml) doses per day of antibiotics, amoxil to be exact. Can i give him medised tonight to help him sleep?

Thanks

what 's wrong with him ? I wouldn't just for the sedative tbh.

REIDnotREEDorREAD · 22/02/2007 18:18

oh no i wouldnt use it 'just' as a sedative! sorry, i didnt phrase that very well!

He has a cough and it is worse at night, the last few nights he has coughed so much when he's gone to bed that he has been sick. i thought the medised may help with the cough!

I guess it depends on the cause of the cough - mucousy possibly , dry probably not. Slightly surprised you have ab's for that. Is the head of his bed raised ?

REIDnotREEDorREAD · 22/02/2007 18:22

he has a chest infection, he wheezes a lot. i have put folded towels under one end of the matress to raise him slightly, but it doesnt seem to help

I'd go for the medised - any relief for the poor little dab would probably be very welcome.
YOu could try the wet towels on the radiator to help him breathe more easily as well.
Hope he feels better soon x

wet towels on the radiator, never heard of that one! thanks scootergirl!

i have given him a half doese, like you said, i think any relfief will be welcome! he has been so tired but cant get a proper nights sleep because of the coughing. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon.

thanks scooter and Lizs x

The wet towels are supposed to put moisture into the air because damp air is easier for them to breathe than the dry air you get in centrally-heated houses. It also soothes any coughing especially if it's a dry cough.
It's the same principle as a humidifier but loads cheaper!
I hope the little chap feels better soon
