DS losing patch of body hair due to mobile phone?

DS is 15 and has lost a patch of his body hair on his upper leg corresponding to where he keeps his phone in his pocket. It's clearly bad although the hair is growing back.

I'm obviously really worried about this and wondered if anyone else had any knowledge or experience of this happening?

He's very relaxed about it and says he's now keeping it mainly on airplane mode because that doesn't emit radiation ! Like most teenagers he uses his phone constantly for texting & snapchat.

Would I be overreacting to go to the doctor?

Clearly bald, not bad.

Is it not simply due to friction? The phone weight just means the fabric is closer to that leg? A lot of men don't have much leg hair on calves etc due to trousers rubbing and eroding the hair.

Almost certainly friction. I have virtually no hair on the upper front parts of my legs which pre-dates general mobile phone use. I've always assumes it's due to the friction from tights/ trousers.
Mobile phones do not give off enough radiation to remove body hair, or all women under forty would hang them over their pubic bone.

Thank you. I think you are both right - combination of upgrading to a massive iPhone 6 and very tight jeans. Should have thought of that.
