I'm really hoping somebody can shed some light on what might be going on with my body as it's starting to worry me. I have already been to the doctor and will be making another appointment soon.
So, here goes...
I'm female, 48, mum of 4, work part-time and am generally in good health apart from recurrent pain in my feet and now wrist. The foot pain started about 7 months ago in one foot. Sharp shooting pains and/or throbbing pains mainly on top of foot and around ankle joint (the lumpy bit) which swells up slightly. Pain started off mainly on top of foot (outside edge) and skin can be very tender on touch but no redness. Back in June I went to doctor and was given numbing gel and Naproxen tablets.
Since then the strange pains have progressed and now happen in the other foot too but not so severe. They are not constant - pain flares up every couple of days, then disappears. One thing that has got worse and is more constant is that it can be very painful to stand on both feet when I've been sitting down for a bit (so pain is also on soles of both feet). I'm literally hobbling around for a couple of minutes until I'm able to walk properly and then I'm OK. Back to doctor and she arranged for me to have a Doppler scan to check blood flow in both legs - came back clear.
This was a couple of weeks ago and I've had another very painful flare up in one foot this evening which has prompted me to write this post. Over the past week I've also started to get pain in one of my wrist joints and a strange clicking sensation. Not sure if this is related to the foot pain?!
Will phone doctor tomorrow to book another appointment and try and get some conclusive answers. Does anyone recognise these symptoms? Should I be asking for blood tests? I've taken more Naproxen this evening but don't want to rely on these painkillers without understanding what's going on.... Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
