and it hurt alot.

Anyway today it feels all bruised although it doesnt really look it. Is a bit swollen and the nail is black.
Under the nail there seems to be something which has risen. I can only think its skin that has blood under it because it keeps bleeding. Not gushing just a bit.

Dh told me to strap it to my ring finger to prevent smacking it on things and cover it up. I've done that and its starting to annoy me now. So is there anything else I can do for it?

I think if its blood under the nail you have to have it poked to drain it otherwise the nail might drop off..... (sorry)

DW did this a few years ago to her thumb. There will be a lot of swelling and it will throb like crazy under the nail due to the pressure build up which may stop you sleeping - did her. This sounds really horrible, but medics suggest the following:
Get a paper clip. Unravel it. Put it through a flame (match, lighter whatever) and press it through the nail (not too hard so that you damage, but enough to pierce a little hole). You may well get a small fountain of blood, but the relief will be enormous...
Hopefully it won't get to this stage.

eeeewwwwww ouch.
I'd go to docs & get it done properly

NbgsYellowFeathers · 16/02/2007 16:15

DrDaddy, it was throbbing like buggery last night. Could of cried but I am a big wuss.
It has stopped throbbing now, its just very sore.
Not sure about the paperclip thing though

Whizz, dont care about my nail coming off. I'll do anything to avoid going to the dr's or a&e.

It might be okay now then. Swelling has probably gone down a bit...
