Whilst looking in Ds's hair this morning as you do. I found a lot of white stuff, needless to say I then inspected his head at very close quarters. I could not find any as he calls them visitors (nits)but he had what could be dandruff, both his DD and I have very very dry scalps.

So in conclusion lots of white flecks, nothing moving.

Have I Nitty Gritty'd him within an inch of his life for nothing ?

I am off to Sainsburys will pop back later.

TIA

you'll know when it's nits.. sounds like dandruff tbh

If there's no frantic scratching I wouldn't suspect nits.

JillyBeansNW · 15/02/2007 17:33

A while since we did nits, but as I remember the only white bits were the eggs which really were miniture egg shape. The pesky live ones were black.
Sounds like dandruffy thing to me.

Best way to check is to run a nit comb through and see if you get any of the blighters showing up in the hair...

dandruff comes away from the hair really easily whereas eggs stick and the only way to dislodge them is to pull them down the shaft of hair [yeuch].

Also eggs are more of a light brown than white. Also sometimes you can see them crawling, if you don't move fast enough on the eggs!
