Dd has had a particularly nasty attack of uveitis. She first went last Thursday and got the usual drops, On Monday her eyesight was badly affected so on Tuesday and today she has been receiving treatment at the eye hospital.
She was told previously that stress was the likely trigger but since moving jobs dd has had no stress but still had two attacks.
The Dr today asked to look at her arms and asked about backache or any pain she has. Dd has backache and a painful hip occasionally that she usually puts down to being seated at a desk for hours on end and our GP suggested ibruprofen when needed. Dr sent her straight to Xray.
She has another appointment at the eye hospital next week or before if her eyesight worsens again but any thoughts on why they wanted xrays of her back?

Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects the spine and can cause uveitis. It's possible that the Dr was thinking along the lines of this or another inflammatory arthritis.

Thank you, My sister has MS so worry about that and dd thinks she has Lupus because of a rash on her face (GP says not) could we be worrying for nothing? My dm had AS but had no problems with her eyes so poor dd is blessed with rubbish genes really.

Your DM's history is worth telling to the GP as it could be linked. If your DD has concerns, it might be worth seeing if the GP would agree to a rheumatology referral as they have access to more definitive testing. Inflammatory arthritis and lupus are both covered by this specialism.

I will get dd to ask for a referral thank you. At least knowing about AS as a possibility dd will be able to alert them to her gm having had it. She died long before dd was born so dd would have no knowledge of it otherwise. Hopefully now xrays have been ordered GP will be amenable to a referral to rheumatology, she's usually pretty good tbh but with dd being young and usually well and there being a logical explanation for her back pain then I imagine GP thought ibruprofen was the answer.
