Do you think this could be heartburn??

Since yesterday afternoon I have felt like I have a heavy weight pressing on my chest(like the weight of an iron). It makes it hard work to breathe deeply. No acid reflux or anything. I'm 17w pregnant btw.

Heartburn? Something else? Any ideas? I will take myself off to the docs tomorrow if it hasn't improved but just wondered if anyone else had experienced this.

I had this when I was pregnant. There was a thread a month or so ago

here which might be helpful.

Try forcing out big burps (in private ) - it worked for me!

(Maybe I should have used a more catchy title - "huge weight on my chest and can hardly breathe " )

Ah well reading that thread, that seems to be what it is . Typical, I never had a day's indigestion when pg with ds! Thanks for pointing me to the thread - pain is always a worrier.

If it is heartburn the GP can prescribe the largest bottles of Gaviscon you have ever seen !

I suffered from it badly when pregnant. Sometimes I could identify what made it worse (eg. too much bread, sitting down for too long after eating)but most of the time it just happened regardless.

Yup, I think I might toddle on up tomorrow and see if I can get some (they are a dispensing GP so sometimes have to order stuff in). Thanks for the advice.

Bleugh ... I HATE Gaviscon . Still throwing up a lot too - ooh this will be fun!

Don't forget your midwife can get your prescription stuff as well so it might be quicker/easier for you to ring her.

Sounds very much like you're suffering the same way I did - lots of throwing up and heartburn. You probably know all of this but drink lots of water, avoid citrus and spicy food, sleep propped up with a few pillows - can't remember anything else except that I had loads of Gaviscon (and it tastes pants!).

Hope you feel better xx
