Why does a one off bout of diarrhea leave you feeling so wiped out and how to counteract ?

I've got rather a dodgy digestive system ( shortened following surgery ) so will often get an attack of cramps and diarrhea . Not that different from IBS attacks .

but why does it make me so weak ,especially my legs and how can I hasten recovery time ?

Oral rehydration salts ?( Dioralyte )

Yeah, rehydration is really it. And patience, but that is hard!

maisiejones · 13/11/2016 01:53

Yes, Dioralyte or similar. When you have diarrhoea you lose potassium and sodium which makes you feel weak.

Dehydration does weird stuff to you.

Drink frequently. Small glass every half hour. And take it slow and steady. You're still unwell.

Yes, electrolytes are what you need.

Any combo of salt and sugar will do if you run out of diarilyte.
