We're building on our walking habits for October and adding in a positive new diet habit for November.
Tell us your goal and check in to let us know how you're getting on!

I've just had my worst day ever!!! 2K steps. Had to go to the supermarket this morning as the cupboards were empty. Then it rained this afternoon & I was stuck in with a toddler, so it just didn't happen.

Think I'll walk at lunchtime tomorrow. I've got a full office day, which is usually awful for steps. Urgh.

toldmywraath · 13/11/2016 21:44

Alice I alter my name in subtle ways as I really like it. I've tried others but always go back to told Alice I hope your relative feels better soon. My dad is hoping to come home this week.

I've managed 11k today- long dog walk as very sunny & then went into town for a trip to the theatre. So although I've walked a fair bit, I've also sat on my bum a lot, too.

Sauvignon I don't have little children so I can go out for a walk whenever I feel tempted. There's always tomorrow.

AliceInHinterland · 14/11/2016 22:25

Well done told I don't think sitting in a theatre is the bad kind of sitting, great for your brain! I miss it with young kids but life is all swings and roundabouts.
How did you get on Sauvignon? The supermarket is usually good for my steps as I wander round aimlessly looking for things. I'm an online shopper normally!
We were caught up with hospital visits again today so awful diet, and 7k steps. I need to eat some real food!

I met both targets yesterday and steps target today.

Alice Flowers . My dad is coming home tomorrow as his treatment has worked, thankfully.

AliceInHinterland · 15/11/2016 18:56

told that's fantastic news! All goals are on hold for now, but will hopefully be back to normal as things stabilise a bit.

OP posts:
AliceInHinterland · 17/11/2016 21:48

Okay I'm getting myself back on track not least because hospital visits and a sleepless baby mean I need to look after myself. 7 veg and 6.5k steps today, though I'm still sure I get short changed when walking with the pram!

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 18/11/2016 06:15

Alice that sounds promising. Sorry to hear about sleepless nights. Look after yourself.

I overdid Wednesday with16k steps plus 31 flight of stairs. Also ate properly. Mind you it was walk to work Wednesday so the steps target was easier to achieve. I do this once every 4 weeks.

Yesterday I did 10k steps but missed the food target completely. I am still in love with my fit bit, I wonder if the novelty wears off soon?
Grin

AliceInHinterland · 18/11/2016 19:16

The steps are behind today at 5k, lots of driving round which I hate! Would much rather be out in the fresh air. Can I take some of your steps?
Veg is only about three at the moment but I'm just going to munch on crudités fir the rest of the evening to reach a total of five or six.
Is your dad out yet told. We are hopefully escaping the misery of hospital tomorrow.

Hello all - hoping everyone is doing ok - there seems to be a hospital theme going on!

I managed to walk between hospitals on Monday & got to 6Kish, much better than my office day on Wednesday where I only got to 2.5K. Had planned to walk at lunchtime but torrential rain put paid to that. And on Thursday morning too, when I used the car for school drop-off (1st time since term started in August).

So i've managed to walk on 5 days out of 7. And probably nearer 7K steps on the days I walk. I'll get a chance to walk tomorrow whilst DS is in tennis lessons for an hour. Every little helps!

Really pissed off with my weight, need to have a serious think about 5:2 (the only thing that works for me).

toldmywraath · 19/11/2016 20:25

Hello Alice & Sauvignon I'm doing well with the steps & yes to the hospital theme- my dad did come out of hospital but has been readmitted. He should not have been sent home as very unwell. Sad

I've been busy today and on the go- I'm almost on 15k steps again, most unusual for a weekend. The weather is meant to be shocking here tomorrow so I might give myself a break & just stock up on fruit/veg.
Fed up with my weight as well, but struggle to lose any unless I'm really strict (thyroid problem)

AliceInHinterland · 20/11/2016 15:41

I'm sorry told it really grinds you down doesn't it, especially if you're not so well yourself. I've been doing pretty well on the veg, hit the target yesterday, but the walking - just awful, and I'm feeling it! But I have found it so interesting to know that it makes such a difference.

OP posts:
SauvignonPlonker · 21/11/2016 21:29

Well, I've had some better days with the walking. I managed 10K steps each day on Saturday & Sunday, by prioritising time for a walk. Hard with so little daylight! It was below freezing on my walk on Saturday, I was sooo cold. Today I managed to walk between hospitals & got to 8.5K.

Like you, Alice I feel so much better when I walk & just feel sluggish when I don't exercise.

Sorry to hear about your dad, told. There's so much pressure on hospital beds that people are often sent home before they're ready, which is just counterproductive.

toldmywraath · 21/11/2016 22:58

Thanks for your comments re my Dad Sauvignon and Alice.
Well today I missed my step targetShock only managed 6k. I think that the torrential downpours were a bit of a deterrent.Wink

More hospital visits on the cards I'm afraid. But that's life, sadly.

toldmywraath · 21/11/2016 23:00

I felt more tired today than usual and wondered if it's because I didn't do so much walking as I have been used to. If you see what I mean.

AliceInHinterland · 22/11/2016 22:00

I know it will mean so much to your dad having you to visit told. I used to think I got winter blues from lack of sunlight, but I think it's actually lack of exercise.
I really want to hit both of my targets for the rest of the month at least - I need you to hold me accountable!

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 22/11/2016 22:36

Alice keep on track and banish those winter blues.
I've felt really sluggish today, walked into a door with a hot drink in my hand. No harm done but just come up to bed and realised that I have not taken my thyroid meds today!

Steps 11k today though. Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight.

AliceInHinterland · 23/11/2016 22:10

I'm on 7.9k steps and 7 veg - I'll take that. I'm seriously considering cutting out sugar next month (until Xmas!) despite my commitment to positive goals, I know it's the thing that will make most difference.
I hope you're not injured told, great that you're still getting so many steps under your belt.

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 24/11/2016 14:04

Alice I am fine thank you, I just felt a bit daft!

Your steps & veg target is impressive. I wish I could give up sugar! My eating is all over the place at the moment.

My steps were 10.5k yesterday & probably on target for today as I have a dog walk & hospital visit to fit in (on 5.5k already)

I want to stay in by the log burner & read, but the dog is looking at me longingly!

AliceInHinterland · 25/11/2016 09:31

Morning! I hope you go to good walk and time by the log burner. Yesterday was okay, 8k steps and 5 veg, onwards and upwards.

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 25/11/2016 13:18

Thanks Alice. It's so difficult to motivate with the short daylight hours. I'm just in from work and snuggling with the dog.
Target met yesterday on steps. I was nearly blown away by the Autumn gales though.Smile

AliceInHinterland · 26/11/2016 23:03

Yesterday on target for fruit and veg, a bit short for steps (but I blame the pram!!) today only five veg and 5.5k steps. Not awful though. told your dog must really love you! Walks and cuddles. Our poor little one is sadly overlooked a lot of the time, he does have a dog walker though.

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 27/11/2016 23:10

Evening all. Well walking is going great and I even managed 5 vegetables today. Polish needed for my haloHalo

I love my little dog and I believe she feels the same about me! I'm definitely her favourite person, which is lovely. She is my first ever dog . I've always had cats. I still do, one sleeps with me every night.

AliceInHinterland · 28/11/2016 19:15

They have so much love to give don't they! I've never had a cat but definitely wouldn't mind one day.
We've had a few medical emergencies so things were up in the air this weekend, I couldn't tell you how many veg I've had. Hoping things will settle down a bit for the rest of the week.

OP posts:
toldmywraath · 28/11/2016 22:35

Sorry to hear about your medical emergency Alice . Hope things improve.

Steps and vegetables on target today. Still doing hospital visitsSad . We're all in limbo at the moment.

Toldcat likes to wake me up in the middle of the night. She is very purry and likes a fuss at 3am🐱

Well as December approaches I'm adding in 5 mins per day on the exercise bike. It might sound not much but I find I am completely out of condition on the bike. Food to be my January target.

AliceInHinterland · 29/11/2016 18:53

I love a purry cat but maybe not at 3am, though I would probably be up with the children anyway! I find exercise bikes hard too, I'm going to add in ten minutes of yoga for December. I say 'add-in' but the walking has gone to pot. Veg was good today, and not too many treats so feeling pretty good about that.
Limbo is the word for it, but I suppose the only thing we can count on is that life will keep changing and we need to work around that (i.e. not think things will be perfect when...)
