I have a lump in the side of my buttock, fairly deep under skin - can be felt but not seen. Had it for years and years, but last night we noticed for the first time that it seems to have grown substantially. It's about the size of the top joint of my finger. Doesn't hurt at all, I'm completely unaware of it unless it's 'explored' IYSWIM, and it doesn't hurt when pressed either.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a cyst, go to your GP and let him have a look.

or a ganglion ? it is probably benign but you should get it checked out.

I thought you only get ganglions on joints?

If it doesnt' bother me and has been there for so long with no ill-effects, is there really any need to do anything about it?

Thanks ladies. I'll put it on my to-do list then.

And no doubt it'll get transfered onwards from list to list to list....
