Worried about rectal examination. Anyone like to reassure me?!

Hi all, just posting for any reassurance really.
I've got severe endo of which it looks like it's infiltrated my bowel. My gynae Dr has referred me to see a bowel specialist to be examined, so they can consider the best way to treat the endo.
I'm scared stiff of the examination! Like most things, it's the lead up to the thing / the not knowing what to expect that gets my anxiety going.
Anyone had the same who can tell me it's a breeze please?! Many thanks Smile

My experience is they are very sensitive and sedation is available. I had a sigmoidoscopy and there was a nurse to talk to me.

Aah, thanks Giddy. I asked if I could be sedated and they looked at me like I was crazy! (Even though I probably am!). The endo nurse did say she'd be with me. Thanks again for sharing your experience x
