Hello

For the last four days my dd has been having explosive and messy poos - i have ebn throw out two vests and a babygro as they were too mad to wash!

Her diet has not changed, she is well in herself and loved her food but as she is eating her meal you hear these scary sounds and you just know its a messy one!

Can this be teething and long should it last? This cant be good for her?

Shouls i reduce her food intake?

Toddler diarrhoea, maybe? It's very, very common and doesn't really have a cause.

How old?

lovecloud · 08/02/2007 17:14

9 months only - feel so sorry for her. she is not her usual self and very lethargic, guess you would be with all a bad tummy for a few days. Just wants to be held and to snuggle into me. cant put her down.

just been to gp but that was pointless - told me its nothing to do with teething and that its a tummy bug an dthat it can last weeks??? - sure thats not right, she would be skin and bones by then. he also said that all babies have this at 9mths? never heard of that before, dd1 did not have it.

just worried about her still.

was thinking of just breast feeding her for a whole day to see if it helps?

Sounds horrid - poor little thing. Can't really offer any sound advice but I took my dd2 at 9months to the gp because she was poorly and gp referred to narky nine months! I think teething can upset tummies.

Keeping her hydrated is probably the most important thing - make sure he is doing wees.

Good luck and hope she feels better soon.

Sorry mis-type, I meant 'she' is doing wees...

Hi lovecloud

As you are breastfeeding still then yes, I would definitely try 24 hours of just milk. It's sooo easily digested, and fibre free, so should take some of the oomph out of the diarrhoea, and give the bug less to feed on too. And at least you will know that she is not dehydrating.

If she's desparate for solids in the meantime, you could try rice cakes for her to nibble on. They are v. gentle on the tum too.
