Had evil device fitted two years ago and experienced every hideous side effect from hair-loss, violent mood swings, perpetual bleeding, fat-cow syndrome. I put up with all of this, safe in the knowledge that i was well protected against unwanted pregnancy, however today i took a test as i was 8 days late and i'm only bloodyfucking pregnant!!! Be warned, be careful!! My G.P. said i was the first she'd heard of in 7 years- brilliant!!

oh domestic what a shock for you. i have mirena and i hate it

BuffysMum · 07/02/2007 20:22

oh dear, bet dp still won't have the snip though (mine that is). Are you really not at all happy to be pregnant then? What made you test as most people do not get periods with the coil?

lulumama · 07/02/2007 20:24

eeeek ! i have a mirena

i love it ( so far)

what a shock , how do you feel?

JillybeansNW · 07/02/2007 20:25

Domestic, I had a mirena coil fitted in March 2 years ago. I didn't have too bad side effects, just slightly larger boobs mostly, Oh and my periods stopped after about 6 months (yay). As a result I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 19 weeks gone. DD is now nearly 6 months old.

Oh and the scan man said that he sees quite a few where he is checking how far along pg is and also trying to spot the coil.

JillybeansNW · 07/02/2007 20:26

Oh, and dp HAS had snip now

JillybeansNW · 07/02/2007 20:29

Oh and I send {{{hugs}}} I remember how shocked I was and really feel for you
(My attempts at not doing long posts seems to have just ended up with multiple posts!)

BuffysMum · 07/02/2007 20:30

Oh bloody hell - please tell me that with the mirena coil it is rare - I know with the copper coil it is much more common.

I ave decided I really do not want another and am selling everything.

domestictechnician · 07/02/2007 20:34

This is my first mumsnet experience- i love it it's the new ebay! God thanks for all the support. It's not a good time for me to be pregnant- have three mental boys; 8,6 and 3 and seperated from their father a year and a half ago. Have a wonderful new boyfriend and everything going so well but we are trying to take everything quite slowly for damage limitation purposes, we're planning on moving in together in summer hols and would both like another baby one day when everything else is a bit more settled. But not now- my life as a mummy is hard work and i feel like i spread myself too thin already! i am amazed to hear other pregnancy stories with this device. It just beggars the question what will i use now???

BuffysMum · 07/02/2007 20:39

Sheraz · 07/02/2007 20:40

My doc said it was rare but you've read the messages Buffy's mum! By the way what's dp to a mumsnet virgin? Is it dad person or dastardly prick or dependable partner?

lulumama · 07/02/2007 20:42

let's sheraz !!

DT- fabby name,,,,it means 'darling partner' or dear partner...although dastardly prick is quite good !

click on 'acronym list' in the top left, it will give you a list !

BuffysMum · 07/02/2007 20:43

dear partner, although I should really type df - fiance soon to be dh dear husband......like your alternatives though could def be v applicable with the ex's

Sheraz · 07/02/2007 20:44

DT, no wonder you are in shock. The chances of this must be so slim... but i could just imagine it being me...Good luck.

domestictechnician · 07/02/2007 20:44

Coil is still in tact buffy's mum, hence the shock! I think new relationship will be fine as long as he doesn't mind a total ban on bedroom activities!

I am going to see GP tomorrow to discuss having mine removed, I have had it for four years and feel like crap

mooshy · 07/02/2007 20:45

Hi
I think you def. need to take it if you really dont want to risk pregnancy.
The window for conception is a long one.

domestictechnician · 07/02/2007 20:49
