Apparently, ds's class only had 22 on Friday because of it (normally 30). Poor ds was hit with it on Sunday night - horribly high temperature, nasty chesty cough, shivering, aches and pains - really nasty. Poor boy is still not better (he looks v pale) which is very unlike him.

Of course, yours truly has a version (though I'm ok) which meant last night I was sweating so much, I thought I'd spilt my water all over me!

Luckily, the asthmatic ones have avoided it so far though dd has told everyone we have bird flu .

So who else is stuck with it?

oh RHUBARB - it is dire, you poor poor thing!

(funnily enough, it seemed to bring on an unexpected period in me too ggrrrr)

make sure you have lots of nurofen and lemsip if someone is doing a chemist run for you!

Emailed you earlier foxinsocks (no more slug encounters then?)

I am definitely BETTER! although ds3 who had had a cough for 5 weeks now, is still coughing and now is dosed up with calpol to make his ear ache better. So we are not yet bug free.

Funny about the period thing. A week before I got ill, I had a period that went on for 9 whole days (normally 5 days). Just sit on the loo permanently Rhubarb and drip!

JARM · 09/02/2007 10:23

I am defiantely feeling "better" still not great, but better.

Rebecca is coughing and snotty but overall not tooooooo bad, is napping at the moment.

Jessica is full of it, really rough bless her, and has just crashed on the sofa (she hasnt had a daytime nap for months!)

Just wish there was something i could do to make them feel better!!!

Rhubarb · 09/02/2007 10:25

I coughed up great big greenies this am, throat burners too! Chest and throat very very sore.

Still got headache and slightly fuzzy feeling. Chest all rattly. I prob should go to the docs but Asda for sanitary towels takes priority. I've not had one this bad for yonks!

foxinsocks · 09/02/2007 10:28

(have just replied DG).

You need to suck on a Fisherman's Friend Rhubarb (fnar).

They did the trick for me and I was honking up some alien stylee greenies.

Stick on Sudafed, paracetamol, Karvol, ibuprofen, aspirin and an awful lot of juice too. I have consumed masses of all of the above since Monday morning.

foxinsocks · 09/02/2007 10:36

I ended up losing my voice for a day - my voice went all deep and husky (dh most intrigued). It really hurts your chest this one.

Same here DG - 3 boxes of tissues since tuesday!

I wish it would just bugger off now though - fed up BIG TIME.

expatinscotland · 09/02/2007 10:39

Now I'm home with it.

It is bloody AWFUL.

My sinuses are throbbing.

foxinsocks · 09/02/2007 10:42

oh noooo expat!

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 09/02/2007 10:43

my sinuses and ears are in agony.

i don't mind, as long as the girls are okay.

they're at my SILs today.

foxinsocks · 09/02/2007 10:47

is dd1 better?

(have you got some painkillers to take?)

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 09/02/2007 10:53

Oh yes, I have to agree. My chest still hurts when I cough - I have to put a hand on my chest before coughing otherwise the pain is awful.

And the phlegm is disgusting. All sticky and thick in your throat and I have coughed quite a bit up. Mind you, it is preferable to swallowing it. I must have swallowed a fair bit and had stomach pains to show for it yesterday.

Sorry TMI !

expatinscotland · 09/02/2007 11:17

DD1 is on the mend. Might send her back to nursery on Monday if she continues like this.

Poor DD2 is coughing and teething as well.

No wonder she's sparko.

CheesyFeet · 09/02/2007 11:18

This is the worst bug that's hit Chez CheesyFeet for mant a year - and we have had our share. We've all had it, fotunately dd got off quite lightly but dh and I have been haulking up great big green chunks of phlegm for over a week.

No appetite, no-one is sleeping and dh seemed to think it would be ok to take to his bed for three days leaving me to cope with dd by myself . We Had Words about that.

expatinscotland · 09/02/2007 11:19

It's a nasty, lingering one, Cheesy.

CheesyFeet · 09/02/2007 11:20

I'm a brave little soldier though and have managed to drag myself into work for the past couple of days.

JARM · 09/02/2007 11:24

can i ask if there is any point getting the girls checked at the docs?

I know that ive been caught by it, but i have muddled on and dosed myself up, but these little babies of mine are REALLY suffering today!

I have medised'd them and cough medicined them but im at a loss of what else i can do for them!

expatinscotland · 09/02/2007 11:25

is their breathing laboured, JARM?

temp really high?

green snot or phlegm?

it's worth ringing your surgery and speaking to the nurse.

JARM · 09/02/2007 11:27

no, its just normal clear snot but its the hacking cough and hoarse voices...... i feel so bloody helpless!

BettySpaghetti · 09/02/2007 12:03

DS's was/is a chest infection so I'm glad I get him checked out. He sounded really crackly when he was breathing so I guessed it had gone to his chest - do your girls sound like that JARM?

Overrun · 09/02/2007 12:12

We've all got something similar. I am really hoping that it doesn't go to my chest, which may sound selfish that I am more worried about me, but I have the worst Asthma of the family and with me out of action we have problems
It seems to last a long time, they have been snotty and grotty for over a week now, and their coughs are so fruity

serenity · 09/02/2007 12:36

If anyone is going through tissues at the rate we are, you might be interested to know that Lidi do Cien Balm/Aloe Vera tissues for 69p for a box of 99. Poor DDs face looks like I've had a go at her with a cheese grater because we run out of the 'good' tissues and I couldn't get out again with 3 of them sick. Went out this morning and bought 4 boxes, hopefully that will last the weekend!
