A Question About Stitches

I had a mole removed from my leg a few weeks ago which resulted in having stitches.I had them removed about 2 weeks ago and was left with a tiny looking scab where they were.I've just had a bath and sat picking at the scab, but when I looked it isn't a scab but a small piece of what looks like white cotton sticking out of my leg.
The stitches were blue in colour and not "cotton like",and because the wound has now healed over,I can't seem to get the cotton out.
Don't know whether to try and cut it flush to the skin or go and see the nurse at my gp's surgery.Seems a bit petty to see the nurse, but it's now making me wonder what else has been left in there.

Any advice would be appreciated,thanks.

Do you know if they just put in skin sutures or another layer underneath? I wouldn't cut it off, maybe phone surgery and ask?

They never said anything about stitches underneath but I phoned the surgery this morning(and have an appointment for tomorrow),and the nurse said it sounds like an internal stitch that I've sat and picked.Didn#t even occur to me that there might be internal stitches too, otherwise I'd have left the "wound" alone.

Oh dear!! Not to worry, I think they'll probably just snip it off anyway but I'd wait til they've seen it! Good luck!

Thanks.Serves me right for picking.
