Colonoscopy tomorrow - how long til my Medicine takes effect

Hello, a first timer for a colonoscopy tomorrow, so I'm clueless!

I've taken the first jug of the liquid stuff (to clean me out! Sorry TMI), but so far 2 hours later nothing has happened.

Should I be worried or just soldier on with the next sachet and hope something happens before bedtime?

Been for a walk round the garden and not a murmur so far....

Husband had one last week, I think it took a couple of hours for him to have his first clear out! It's such a faff, he was nearly retching taking that bloody stuff! You have my sympathies!

He had sedation too (had it without the first time and said it was much better/easier with).

Mine took the second sachet to start anything going and then I certainly knew about it!

My husband has to do this every 2 years. Norty is right, it will happen! I'd put a book next to the loo if I were you- you might be there for a while!

Tan, it is absolutely vile stuff, urghhh I had to rinse my mouth out. I've been taking every 15 mins. Now having a break. Back 'on the case' at 830 pm.

I think I will take a copy of the Daily Fail in, that should get things started.

How was it op?

Hello friends, I have just come back up from theatre and sitting having a cup of coffee after my colonoscopy. Feeling a lot more 'human' than earlier as I arrived with a splitting headache. I hardly slept last night, jumping out of bed for obvious reasons . It definitely took 2 sachets and definitely needed the reading material haha!

My nurse said my headache was normal, even though I had been drinking a lot since yesterday, the purgative depletes all the goodness out of you. I've been advised to have lots of Activia Bio live yoghurt.

It went well thank you tan. I'm just waiting for the gastroenterologist to get back from theatre, to tell me the results.

I survived yay! I am very empathetic to anyone having the procedure, it's quite an ordeal to go through, but it's bearable with sedation. All the nurses are lovely, big hoorah to them for easing my nerves.
