dd (2) has some little clear/ whitish blisters on her nappy area

she's already had chickenpox and is up to date with all jabs etc

should I worry? I'm immensely good at worrying

When my dd had 'hand foot and mouth' it started out as spots on her bottom.

Or it could be another little virus, molluscum.

Cappuccino · 02/02/2007 13:09

what is hand foot and mouth?

OP posts:
eviletc · 02/02/2007 13:10

do they look sore at all? is the rest of her little rear ok?

dd had something that turned int what looked like bum acne, though it started off innocously enough. turned out to be thrush, apparently.

belgo · 02/02/2007 13:11

it's a virus that causes small blisters and spots on the bottom, hands, feet and in the mouth ( but not neccessarily all those places). When my dd had it , it was very painful in her mouth, but none of the other blisters bothered her, even thought they looked awful, and they went away without scarring. She dribbled loads due to the ulcers in her mouth.

wurlywurly · 02/02/2007 13:12

i thought foot and mouth but hought the blisters had to be on the feet( this was where ds had the blisters anyway)

have a look at this on nhs direct

Cappuccino · 02/02/2007 13:12

lol at bum acne

no they don't look sore

will leave it a bit and see what happens

unless anyone thinks I should wake her up and go straight to the doctors before it Eats Her Alive

OP posts:
wurlywurly · 02/02/2007 13:13

ok so the link didnt work but it confirms that the blisters can be on the bottom area

eviletc · 02/02/2007 13:14

the nappy rash that ate the world...hmm... wasn't tom cruise in that?!

i wouldn't worry yet hon, just keep an eye on it. washing with camomile tea is good for sores bots btw

wurlywurly · 02/02/2007 13:14

i would try and get her seen by the doctor today as hand foot and mouth is vrey contagious.

Cappuccino · 02/02/2007 13:14

thanks for that wurly

actually she does have some of the 'generally unwell' symptoms on there too

probably why we were up at 4.30am drinking Horlicks and watching old programmes about Britney Spears

OP posts:
belgo · 02/02/2007 13:15

I would wait and see if she develops any other symptoms or seems to be in pain. it might not be hand foot and mouth.

belgo · 02/02/2007 13:16

x posts with cappuncino!

have a look in her mouth.

Might be worth a doctors visit then, if you can get one today!

Cappuccino · 02/02/2007 13:21

further googling has revealed that the main treatment is Calpol

so I think I'll stay away from the docs unless she takes a turn for the worse - he thinks I'm insane as it is
