Urine infection? Again? Do I ring the hospital?

I was booked for urodynamics at the hospital & they couldn't do it as I had a no symptom urine infection
So I had 5 days of amoxy & went back for an appointment which also had to be cancelled
So I had 7 days of nitrofurantoin finished last Thursday & I'm starting to get symptoms again

My urodynamics have been cancelled to the end of the month but I am due a cystoscopy on Wed do I ring them to ask if it's OK?

I've no direct experience of this (at the stage you are at at least) but I've been going through the urine infection things and at the follow up stage for a couple of months now.

I would ring the hospital and ask. From what I can gather a cystoscopy is just to look in your bladder and I assume they would be looking for infection so the fact you may already have one I'm guessing shouldn't matter.

When you say a non symptom infection what do you mean? Has a culture come back negative for growth!

Excuse the typos I'm on my phone and left my glasses downstairs Grin

You should be fine to have a cystoscopy even with an infection present. Mine was done when I had an infection.

I had no symptoms when they first checked me & a very strong reaction (the symptoms came about 24hrs later)

After the Amoxy I had a positive then a few hours later a negative

I am so bloody confused

Thing is, it's likely the urodynamics is to see if your bladder is emptying properly, if it isn't then repeated infections are very likely. So yes, I'd see if they're happy to do it anyway.

I had a TVT about 13 yrs ago & I think it has moved slightly so I am getting it investigated

Well I rang & they say they don't know it will depend on what the surgeon saysSad

So I may well waste another appointment which is really sad

They did it - but there were still signs of infection

So I'll see how it goes
