Anyone had throat polyps or tonsils out recently that can give me an idea of recovery time?

Going in for an operation to get polyps out of my throat and due to attend a wedding 5 days afterwards is this unrealistic? It will involve travelling with small children, staying with relatives, sorting babysitting. They gave me a leaflet intended for people having tonsils out so I'm guessing its similar, and it said to take two weeks of work - I'm SAHM so I won't get that luxury! I have asked my DM to stay for two days afterwards, hoping that will be enough. Anyone been through similar/DC's had tonsils out that could advise how quick the recovery is? TIA

I've had tonsils out as an adult. Tends to be a more serious operation than in children. I'm not sure if I would've been well enough to do what you're suggesting 5 days after. After a tonsillectomy, it's common to get further bleeding and if this is the case for what you're having done, it could scupper your plans. Have you got another adult going with you who can do the driving/organising whilst you sit back?

My daughter had her tonsils out aged 19. She was very stoic about it all but she was in a lot of pain afterwards and it was 2 weeks before she was properly up and about again. I think your plans post surgery may be unrealistic.
