She has had a chest infection before xmas which cleared up after antibiotics. Had another one plus ear infection 2 weeks ago and had more antibiotics. She perked up but still had chesty cough. Doctor checked her and said she was ok so went back to nursery for 2 days and caught a vomiting bug!!
Was very ill at weekend and high temperature so had to take her to emergency gp at hospital, who diagnosed a viral infection on top of the one she was recovering from. No antibiotics but just rest and fluids etc. Since then she has been very lethargic, whingey, not eating or drinking much, still got a cough, has had diorrhea and really smelly wind!! Am giving her calpol and tixylix but not sure how long it should be taking before all these horrible viruses clear up .She seems really uninterested in drinking anything which is making it very hard to get enough fluids into her. Any experience of similar? She is 18 months

Some winters are worse than others. My 2 & 3 yo's have had colds, v. bad coughs, conjunctivitis and gastro enteritis over the past few weeks without much healthy time in between.

My 5yo however, has only had the gastro and although she has a bit of a runny nose at the moment, hasn't succumbed to her siblings rattling coughs. Hopefully this means her immune system is getting stronger.

Until this happens, I guess we just have to live with it.

Re: the drinking, if you always have drinks available your DD will probably get enough fluids. I even give my DCs spouty-cups of water to take to bed when they have coughs.
