Wait for blod test results

My DD1 had blood tests taken a week ago at the hospital and so far they are still being processed. Could anyone tell me please how long they usually take to come back and do they wait for all the results before they record them? Many thanks

I think it depends on what tests and which hospital. If it helps, we're waiting for blood test results for ds2 (who's 2 years old) and were told they would take 2 - 3 weeks to arrive. It's been 1 week so far...

Blimey Dottydot, 2-3 weeks? Thats forever when you are waiting, is'nt it? I have posted before but basically DD has 2 lumps in her neck so I think he is checking for most infection type stuff and all the blood counts or something. I looked at the form but it was all gobbledegook. Do you mind me asking what your ds2 is waiting on?

Hi - He's been tested for Coeliac disease - because I've got it so he's got a 1:10 chance of having it as well. And a full blood count to check if he's anaemic (I am because I've got coeliac, so it's good to check both at the same time!).

It is a pain waiting - I'm not overly stressed about it, but am kind of thinking about it on and off each day at the moment. If it comes back positive, he might have to have a biopsy, so I'm worrying in advance which is silly - so trying not to!!

I remember your posting about the lumps in her neck - ds2 also gets that - he's got a permanent lump at the back of his neck - one of his glands permanently swollen (and you should see his tonsils - they're enormous!).

Your poor ds, dotty, I hope it turns out ok but I guess if it doesn't at least you are an expert and can help him lots with diet ideas etc. Good luck. These children are such a worry and it doesnt help when your imagination goes wandering.

Tickled - any joy yet? Just checked on our calendar and ds's blood test was 2 weeks ago, so I'm hoping we shouldn't have to wait too much longer...

Hello Dotty. I found out today that some have come back and so far so good. They have ruled out leukaemia, anaemia and infections. We are still waiting on a series of viral screens which should be back in the next few days. He says he might want to investigate the lumps further depending on the next set of results. I hope you have had yours back and it's good news.

that's good news so far - must be a relief! fingers crossed the next set of results are just as reassuring.

Still no results here - I'm going to leave it until Thursday/Friday and then ring the GP as it will have been over 3 weeks by then.

Thanks Dotty. I will post if I have any more info as it's very therapeutic and may help someone else. I will keep everything crossed for the best results for you
