I can remember having some sachets of a drink from the chemist, poss the pharmacy?!? Tasted pretty gross though. Also drink loads of water to flush it out. Cranberry juice is great to prevent it reuccring but don't think it cures it as its very acidic and might make it worse? Hope it gets better, bloody painful!

Cystemme is the sachets of drink you can get and yes drink cranberry juice.

if it's just starting and not yet too bad and you haven't anything in the house, pints and pints of water might flush it out for you.

Do you know whats bloody amazing for cystitis!! Vinegar! get a jug of warm water and add a couple of tablespoons of any vinegar and pour it over your bits. Also drinking half a glass of water with a teaspoon of vinegar works. I'm not joking, it really does work! I had it loads while preggnant and it was the only thing that worked. Also lemon barley water is excellent.

I've been drinking loads of water anyway as I'm not well and I only noticed today

If you're feeling unwell with it then take paracetamol too. I am a repeat sufferer and it makes you so miserable while it lasts .

What are you symptoms Nikkie?

There is inflammatory cystitis that responds well to home and over the counter treatments and then there is bacterial cystitis which will usually need antibiotics.

Lots of people seem to confuse thrush symptoms with cystitis hence asking for symptoms.

I buy a jar of potassium citrate from chemists (usually about £1.20 for 250ml bottle) mix 2 teaspoons in glass of water/juice - tastes disgusting but usually works in about an hour or two and is a fraction of the price of cystopurin etc (my sister is a nurse and is always telling me about bargain chemists own brand stuff)
