Small spots on DS tongue....

...what can they be

He was poorly yesterday and had very high temp and was drowsy and generally ill - today he hasnt had a temp but has been very whingey, clingy and has barely eaten all day. I have put it down to teething but looking at his tongue he seems to have some small ulcer like spots.

Both DP and I have also had bad mouth ulcers in the last few weeks - we had put it down to being run down, stressed but maybe it is something now DS seems to have the same.

Erm don't know, but isn't hand foot and mouth doing the rounds right now.

Check his feet.

Beccarollover · 07/06/2004 20:36

Oh right, good. Can't think what else it could be, sorry.
Hope someone else can help.

could it be thrush?

no white covering but he also has nasty nappy rash for first time ever

ds had hand foot and mouth last summer....didnt get any in his mouth though - sometimes they dont get it in all three places...

Hi Becca, they might be just viral if he is unwell or he may have a fungal infection other than thrush. Green leafy veg are the best things to eat to avoid mouth ulcers, if they look like that - though I would think he would find it painful to eat and I'd expect to see them other places in his mouth
If they don't go in a day or two, you should see your GP, tongues are good indicators of general health or other infections

MAYBE YOU ALL HAVE GEOGRAPHIC TONGUE!

he is very unhappy hasnt eaten or slept much for 2 days - he is now pulling on his ear dont know if thats tiredness or soreness, also just noticed rash on his face but htink that may be due to the crying (which he is doing a hell of a lot of!)
