Poor mite has had a cold for a week and now his upper lip is getting all swollen and sore looking. His dad gets intermittent coldsores so think he's probably picked it up from him. Im guessing he's too young for zovirax?

MT, am a bit wary of posting this as I guess Zovirax must be quite potent.

But, I asked a friend who is a pharmacist about putting it on my 3 and a half year old, as I'd looked at the slip that comes in the box and there was no mention of a age (also went to the website and there was nothing on there either). She said it would be ok - and it did the trick. FWIW, she's 6 now and has only ever had 3 in 3 years.

Lysine is supposed to work brilliantly for coldsores. It is an amino acid and you take it internally. But probably best to ask doctor/nutritionist before giving it to your ds. Might be good for your dh tho?
