Need to put on weight but no appetite

I really need to put on some weight, have lost quite a bit recently and I'm already a very slim person to start with! I dont look good and have even missed a period this last month.

The thing is I have no appetite whatsoever and I think this is due to a bit of depression, stress, and also a bit of illness I had recently.
I'm really struggling to eat much at all at the moment so does anybody know of any high calorie really simple food/drinks that would help maybe pack some weight back on. Nothing complicated that requires much cooking, just stuff thats easy to get down.

TIA Smile

Return so sorry you're feeling so down. Can you make an appt to see your dr ASAP?

I was in a very similar situation a few years back, so I do understand. In the end my DH made me see the dr. I was very angry with him at the time, but it was the best thing he could have done. I got medication and within a few weeks was feeling a lot better and also eating much better.
Please see your DrFlowers

Thank you for replies.
My partner is very nice and very supportive.

I think we are going to see the Dr tomorrow. I cannot go on like this. I don't know why I feel like this but it's awful and I just can't seem to snap out of it.

Why can the doctor do? Do medications really work?

Ive been having the same problem - Ive been suffering from unexplained illness for the last few months and the stress/depression of not knowing what it is made my appetite completely disappear, as in I feel nauseous all day every day and the tiniest bit of food makes me either feel sick or be sick. I was very slim to start with and have dropped a stone in weight, so now im really unhealthily skinny - other people have commented on how skeletal i look, its awful. I even had to have a CT scan done of my abdomen just to make sure theres nothing underlying my weightloss because it was so rapid.

I find I can tolerate liquids so have ordered meal replacement shakes called Joylent and have been making smoothies with high fat foods (peanut butter, coconut milk & oil, avocado, nuts, yoghurt etc). I find that a short walk stimulates my appetite a bit too. When it comes to solid food I find bland things easiest so have been eating bananas, chicken, rich tea biscuits, steamed veg etc in small amounts. I keep a packet of rich tea biscuits beside my bed because for some reason my appetite really picks up just before I go to sleep.

Sorry you are feeling so terrible but there's a few suggestions from a fellow sufferer xx

Did you have any luck at the doctor's OP? I've got similar problems. Have a chronic illness and been experiencing flare ups for the last 6 months but have really lost my appetite over the last month. I would happily never eat again some days.
Trying really hard at the moment to eat something every couple of hours in the hope that the more I eat the more I'll want to eat. Also hoping to get my energy levels up. But so many things seem to make me feel sick including Complan annoyingly enough!
Let me know if you come up with any magic bullets...
