Just had 2 day light period & now ovulation?

I am 46 years old & I have been having cycles that range from 15-31 days the past 2 years. Some are short then I get a longer cycle. This one was 17 days long so I assume is not a proper period. I have CM today so know I am ovulating. I've never had mid cycle bleeding before. I had a Pap smear a few months ago & all was fine. Could it just be my age & hormones?

CM is a poor predictor of ovulation so you should not assume that you are ovulating by seeing that. It is possible to have periods without ovulating. Infact with your cycles being as they are now it is more likely that you are not ovulating regularly, if at all.

Mid cycle bleeding should be checked out further particularly if it continues over the next couple of months. It is more likely to be due to hormonal changes.

Update: I saw my psychiatrist & mentioned my migraines. I can't take any tryptan meds due to interaction with my other meds.hs suggested that I try taking Voltaren with the panedeine that has 15mg codeine that we can buy OTC here in Australia. He said he will review me in 6 months & may refer me to a neurologist. I am having a hormone blood test & he said to keep an eye on the mid cycle bleeding.
