Anyone had Chicken pox as an Chickenpox and flying:adult?

What does it feel like before the spots appear?

Ds has it atm and i've never had it. I've woken up today with a runny nose and am feeling slightly sick and just not right. My skin feels sort of tingly and itchy in places but no spots as yet. Could this be it?

I have no idea where the flying bit came from in my title!

Sounds like you could be getting the chicken pox - but it's also possible that you had it as a child so mildly that no one realised, and you are immune. My dad caught the chicken pox from me and my brother when he was in his forties, and was more ill then us kids.

Are you pregnant - it can be dangerous to an unborn fetus.

No thnakfully not pregnant. I did think i was immune though as I have been around people who got chicken pox in the past and never caught it.

You could just have a cold - there are lots about! My kids have just had chicken pox, and I've had a cold at the same time, just a coincidence. Or you could be about to come out in spots.....

I got it last June from my ds (after going through childhood being taken to "Chickenpox parties" by my mum!) I started feeling very fluey, headachey etc on day 1 and first spot appeared day 2.
dd did not get it from either of us (and she was dabbing Calamine lotion onto us happily) - so it's just your luck really!

It takes around two weeks to get infected. I really hope it's just a cold. I had chicken pox two yrs ago, it was horrible

my husband got chicken pox at 27 a couple of years ago and he was soo poorly he had them down his throat and everything, the funny thing was he got them before my son and he didn't getthem until three weeks after!!

It's weird isn't it my ds is only 13 months and he has them now his 3 year old dd who goes to preschool has a cold atm and no spots as yet. I have no idea where ds has got them from as we haven't been to any mother and toddler groups or the like.

DH had it at the age of 30 and was so ill. Had smother him from head to toe with calamine and dose him with antihistamine and paracetamol as it was quite painful.

He even had spots on the soles of his feet.

You should get in touch with your doc asap. My dh had this a few years back ,in his early thirties at time. He was given antivirals and we were told that this made it all more bearable as chicken pox in adults can be quite unpleasant. Not meaning to scare you , just thought that forwarned is forearmed so to speak and you may be able to head off some of the more unpleasant spots by taking the meds as early as poss (ie when /if the first spots appear)....

I felt really shivery and couldn't get a heat in me to start with, then the day after blisters started to appear. If you do get it, take all the painkillers you can, take piriton, apply lots of calamine and retreat to bed. Hope you are OK.
