Copper coil V Mirena coil - any advice?

Hi everyone

I had my mirena coil removed this morning, and my GP suggested I had a copper one fitted as I'm very sensitive to the progestroen and the copper one has no hormones. Has anyone got a copper coil fitted? I know you het heavier periods but are there any other side effects?

Thanks in advance.......

I have the copper coil. My periods have always been heavy, and they are no heavier now with the coil fitted. I can't say I have had any problems with it at all

I have a copper one and it is the best contraception I have ever had. It makes my periods slightly heavier, but they are over quicker (4 days instead of 7). No more pain than before.

I think with the coil it either really suits or really doesn't. Do a search or trawl back through the health threads and you will find lots of threads, either people like me or people who hated it!

'like it' not 'like me'

(oh no I have a hideous like me like me^ complex revealed on mumsnet!)

I have a copper one and it's fab! My periods have always been awful, really heavy and very painful but they are no worse with the coil and also over quicker (6 days, used to be 10, even when I was on the pill - yuk!)
I could sing it's praises all day long!

We were just talking about the same thing yesterday. I had Merina and I think it sent me do lally - inappropriate reactions to sad and happy things etc...
Am using or should say not using the cap - just abstaining. Thinking of copper coil, so thank you for posting this! (sp's to all of this!)
