It is about 2 inches diagonally down from her belly button on the right

It is the tummy that hurts not the mole (very difficult to work out) and it is a circular spot about 2 inches in diameter

Is this her appendix??

Appendicitis is more painful on the rebound after you have pressed it. But as we aren't doctors (or at least I am not) consult someone who is if you are concerned.

that's pretty much where I was going

She is 9 so quite aware - so I haven't said anything

I friend is in Hosp atm (DH just reminded me) for bone surgery??? so maybe operations have been discussed at school

I might check on her in the night

It's almost crying pain (maybe?)

I know you aren't Dr's & if she gets worse we will of course drive to casualty

I'd just rather have an opinion other than mine as I am over protective and fussing

Whereas you are impartial and unconnected

FWIW I occassionally get a tender areasimilar to where the appendix is and it is due to (whispers) a slight constipation type problem. and resolves after about a day.

ComeOVeneer · 24/01/2007 20:30

I wasn't being in any way critical just (as a dentist and aware of the responsibilities of the medical profession) didn't want to feel that mine (or anyone else's) comments would be your deciding information.

Katymac · 24/01/2007 20:30

That makes more sense

I need a version of "why drinking is important" suitable for a 9yo - she is a nightmare sometimes

COV- that's why I put 'may' not be appendicitis.
