Sudden loss of hearing in one ear

On Thursday and Friday of last week, I woke not being able to hear out of my left ear. At some point during the morning, it popped and my hearing returned, but not fully.

On Saturday I woke being unable to hear again but this time it has stayed this way, so for 3 days now. No improvement.

I took advice from the pharmacist who advised olive oil in case my ear needed syringing, which I started. As I said. No improvement.

I have no pain or discharge but I do have pressure so I saw my gp today. My ear canals are apparently so narrow that he was unable to see my ear drum but he couldn't see ANY wax at all. He's given me an antibiotic spray with instructions to go back if there's no improvement in 10 days.

I've been reding about Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL)band wonder if I have this?

I would go to the doctor/inner ear specialist as soon as possible. I had this 3 weeks ago and initially went to my GP who gave me antibiotics. The hearing did not return so was referred to an inner ear specialist. I have lost about 50% of hearing in one ear and had an MRI scan. I took a course of Steroids and last week had 3 days of steroid infusions in the ear. Mine is caused by excess pressure in the inner ear. Hearing has not returned yet and have tinnitus in this ear. Apparently may have been caused by a virus. If you do have this you need to have steroids fast as there is a small window where there is a chance to restore the hearing. You may have something different, but don't delay in case it's the same.
