Sick at Night, Fine during the day

For the last three nights, I have been throwing up for a couple of hours, starting around 1 or 2am each night.

Even though I am very sick at night, I feel fine, during the day and evening.

I rang NHS Direct for advice and they said it might be :-

1.Pregnancy
(Very unlikely as we use condom properly every time and I am demand breastfeeding my child day and night, hence no periods/ovulation so far)

OR 2.Stomach Bug
(Is this likely just for two hours a night and feeling fine the other 22 hours)

Just wondered if anyone had been ill like this and how did you stop it ?

Will it go away on it's own. I am dreading going to bed tonight

are you taking any other medicine?

I've been through 2 similar things but none as severe as yours you poor thing!

I ended up taking omeprazole for a few months because I started waking up with regurgitated food in my throat in the early hours of the morning (you can get this in a small dose over the counter but as you're breastfeeding, it's probably better to wait to see what the GP recommends).

The other time was when I had a reaction to the hormones in the contraception I was taking. Even though I stopped taking it, I carried on reacting (which was a pain). This used to make me v nauseous at night.

I'm glad the GP will see you again - there are a lot of medicines they can use to treat this sort of thing (I was told) so don't lose hope!

Crazydazy,

I retested today and still BFN.

foxinsocks,

I am on no meds of any kind and my GP said he won't give a breastfeeding mother any anti-sickness drugs.

But the water with salts is staying down so far, so I'm off to bed shortly with crossed fingers that I sleep the whole night with no vommiting

I can't believe this, I have started to feel sick again

Last month I recovered and then had a two day period. My first post pregnancy period and then felt fine for the last few weeks.

Now it is a month later and I am feeling very sick again.

And before anyone asks I have just done an pregnancy test today and it is as expected negative. But I wanted to rule that out straight away.

Surely it can't be a stomach bug two months in a row...could it be my periods starting up again combined with my breastfeeding be making me feel this way.

Hello, do you have a nasal drip down the back of your throat? A friend of mines DD was sick only at night and it turned out she had allergies and is now prescribed anti histamines which have cured it.

it could be hormones - they had that affect on me - it was really horrid.

SickySickySickSick · 26/02/2007 10:32

I think it could be hormonal.

As I was on the pill from beeing a teenager until last year. Went off pill last year and got pregnant straight away as planned.

Since I gave birth I didn't ovulate for the first four months as 100% breastfeeding can stop cycles (no ovulation pains or AF)

My first cycle equalled 10 days vommitting, My current cycle is 2 days vommiting to date and now I am feeling sick. I'm hoping to have a lot shorter illness this time, as I know that AF is due shortly (as I'm charting my cycle due to all this sickness, just in case I saw a pattern.)

Thanks for the heads up, lets hope it is that and then I can do something about it.

I'll see how I go over the next few days and then fight my way in to see the local doctor again for advice.

Any update please? I'm currently going through the same thing and searching desperately for answers. I can keep being sick every night

summerblues · 23/05/2016 23:29

I hope the OP is no longer sick 9 years down the line WinkGrin

My DD (38) is going through the same thing, very sick last Tuesday night, better during the day, but sickness seems to return at night. I thought it might be the D&V bug going round, but this seems to be lasting a long time. Anyone else got it?

PurpleAquilegia · 07/06/2016 00:21

Nan she should see her GP. My dog gets pancreatitis which makes her sick only at night.

NanTheWiser · 07/06/2016 10:49

She seems much better now Purple, thanks anyway.

Eva50 · 07/06/2016 16:13

I had this as a child for about 6 weeks and it was put down to stomach migraines. It happened every evening (so not after I had gone to bed) and lasted a couple of hours. I now think they were caused by anxiety.

Chazii · 07/06/2016 21:32

Any update? I'm having the same symptoms, been going on for a couple months now, and I'm exhausted. Doctor can't find anything wrong, I've even resorted to taking sleeping tablets to get me to sleep before the nausea gets bad enough to cause me to be sick. Also definitely not pregnant, unless I'm the new Mary.

HealthGirl · 05/07/2016 16:24

Is this still going on for anyone!?
Try drinking a tbsp or 2 per day of organic apple cider vinegar- dilute it in water
Cancel out dairy
Eat only clean foods (which are naturally grown- no shelf life for a while) all organic or organic local grown.
Try pro and pre biotics as well. Let me know how it goes in a week!

sickkkkkky · 23/12/2016 19:47
