Hi I am probably two stone overweight and in hot weather my ankles swell up. I'm not pregnant, have been to docs who did blood test as she was worried about my kidneys. Results say kidneys fine. She says it's dependent odema. However I keep wondering if I lost weight would the ankle swelling improve?

I believe the swelling would improve. For the last 7 years or so I've had puffy ankles that never go away. They used to swell up more after I'd done a lot of walking. I don't know what it is, I had tests on my kidneys and water tablets which didn't work. Doctor wasn't really helpful, I just sort of put up with it. This year I've gone from 13st 7 to 10st 12 so far and the swelling has gone down a lot. They just seem to be a little puffy/squidgy now, a big improvement.
