Its just next to my eye, non-pigmented and Dr is removing it at my request as its ugly and getting bigger. My mum had one in the same place and had it done no problem and no scar.

Just wondered what your experiences were?

(BTW am bloody terrified)

No experience but I'm having an angioma removed from my forehead soon and think it's a similar procedure so will watch thread with interest

ds is the biggest wimp in the world and totally blood/needle/docotor phobic and he breezed through with no scar when he had one removed from his back

cece · 22/01/2007 16:28

I had one removed from my back and it literally took 2 seconds. They used this cylinder thing to freeze it off. Hardly felt a thing. No problems afterwards. In fact I went staright to work.

There is more than one way to remove a mole though I think and they may not do it this way if it is near your eye.

mosschops30 · 22/01/2007 16:41

he said he will inject it, then quaterise (sp) it and burn it. I will be left with a black scab (mm attractive) which i'm not to pick then should fall off and leave me beautiful (snigger). He just does it in the surgery in a double appointment which makes me think its not a big deal but am a bit of a baby

so doesnt sound too bad if my mum and people on here are to go by.

megalegs, how is yours being done?

Hi Mosschops - had exactly the same thing on my leg last year. Big mole getting bigger and itchy - went in and had it cauterised and removed during a special clinic my GP holds for this sort of thing.

Didn't heard as she put some local anesthetic (sp) on it beforehand and we were chatting about local schools so that kind of took my place off it.

Did have a slightly ugly black scab for a while but it's dropped off now (about 8 months later) and no nasty side effects. Had to chase for lab results but nothing to worry about - honestly!

Can understand your fear though - I was more worried about it than I was about childbirth fgs!

Hope it goes alright - you'll be fine. Just have a big bottle of wine ready for when you get home and pat yourself on the back for being a brave girl

BTW - did you get your Postman Pat thingy for your ds?

Cashncarry · 22/01/2007 16:47

"took my place" (??) - "took my mind off it" - sorry!

mosschops30 · 22/01/2007 16:48

thanks for the reassurance cashncarry, just hope my scab doesnt take 8 months to fall off or I'll become a hermit

Postman Pat was amazing, he arrived at 8.30am and was perfect would use them again, thank you so much for all that

I had a basal cell carcinoma removed which was on the side of my nose right by my eye. I was scared witless too, but honestly it was fine. At least you get left with a scab, I had to have a skin graft too and a funky bandage. Good luck. You'll be fine.

Cashncarry · 22/01/2007 16:55

Oh no - I didn't mean it dropped off after 8 months, it only took a couple of weeks! I meant it's now eight months later.

I'm not making much sense today - think I've got "Monday-itis"

Glad the postman pat thing worked out - don't thank me, thank Google!!

I had a mole removed 2 weeks ago from my leg.It wasn't cauterised though-I was given a local and it was cut out and stitched up.I felt absolutely nothing, had the stitches out on Friday which again didn't hurt and there's hardly a mark on my leg, where it was.
Have to go back on Weds to get the results, but so far so good!

Good luck.

anniebear · 22/01/2007 20:15

I have had two removed

one on my tum and another under my arm

The worst bit about under my arm was that I remember feeling a trickle of blood!!! lol but thats it!

It was honestly fine

KathH · 24/01/2007 21:34

Hi - i had 2 removed from my nose about 6 yrs ago. They were completely harmless but because they stuck out a bit they were in my line of vision and dead annoying! Like you I was terrified. Had a local & could feel the sensation of them being removed but it didnt hurt in the slightest. In fact I was so relaxed while they were doing it, with the classical musical in the background I nodded off! The surgeon kept prodding me to make sure I was ok but at the time ds1 was only a few months old & it was the first chance I'd had for some lovely sleep!

HuwEdwards · 24/01/2007 21:37

mosschops - I had one removed from my cornea

also had one removed from my pelvis.
