massive painful swelling on tongue, what is it?

I have this big lunp in the end of my tongue . My tongue generally looks a bit more swollen and soft than usual (gross, sorry), especially on the sides, and there's a big lump on the underside of the tip, it is starting to make me lisp! It doesn't look like an ulcer or a swollen taste bud, it's just a lump inside the actual tongue iyswim, if I pinch it between thumb and forefinger I can feel a round hard lump about the size of a pea. And it bloody hurts!

Anyone had this? Should I try and lance it or something?

Have you caught it on a tooth with a slight chip?

No, it's definitely a hard lump right inside the tongue, there's not evidence of it on the outside apart from the difference in shape IYSWIM

I would get that looked at. I've had various biopsies of my mouth done for lumps and odd patched of skin.

When my dentist noticed the first one he sent me to the hospital the next day, and it was biopsied the day after that.

They take oral lumps quite seriously.

P.S. mine have all turned out to be nothing to worry about.
