impetigo - any tips/miracle cures desperately needed!

We have been plagued by impetigo for the past 4 months - my son (5) had it twice and then my daughter (3 in March) has had it about 9 times - she is currently on her 9th lot of antibiotics in 4 months. We are utterly desperate. If anyone knows of any tips, miracle cures or ways to stop her being vulnerable to getting it, I'd be very very grateful. We are moisturising her like mad, washing sheets/towels on hot wash etc.
thank you for any tips.

Tea tree oil, if you are not sensitive to it, is great for getting rid of small outbreaks of impetigo. Use it in the washing too.

We've been struggling with this too. My ds's have excema so are prone to infections.

I've actually had more luck clearing it up with fuciden cream rather than antibiotics - although apparently bugs can get immune to this.
Do you find it comes back about nine days after the antibiotics finish?

DS1 had 3 bouts before the age of one. First 2 times I got rid of it using a homeopathic remedy called Viola Tricolor.

The third bout was a bit more stubborn so we used antibiotics.

He is 3 now and it's never come back (touch wood!).

When DD had it, my dad (a paediatrician) recommended keeping her nails cut very short and keeping lots of antibacterial hand cleaner round the house (the kind you don't need water for) - not a cure but stopped it spreading and it never came back.

I've got impetigo on my knee at the moment - it's horrible. I'm on Fucidin Cream but after only 24 it's not getting better. DH says if it doesn't start looking better tomorrow I might need some flucloxicillin! Might try the Tea Tree oil first though.

I used homeopathy for ds2 last year. He had 4 recurrent bouts. I gave him graphites and hepar sulph for 2 weeks and is cleared up. This was after 3 courses of anti-biotics and several tubes of cream.

Ditto tea tree oil.
dd1 had it years ago and was on antibiotics for about 9 months. She looked like she`d got cigarrette burns all over her legs for a while-it was horrid for her.Tried fucibet, bandaging the lot.In the end i stopped everything and put 5 drops of good tea tree and 5 drops of lavender into a small bowl of cooled boiled water.I used this to bathe the imetigo 2 to 3 times a day and it cleared up really quick. Its def. worth a try.Hope you get it sorted soon
