Sicky dribbly baby

My 20wk DD has always brought up milk after a feed. When i was BFing it was quite severe, but since being on formula it has settled down and she brings up just little puddles rather than torrents of milk.

She's always possetting though and not straight after a feed - a couple of hours later and she'll bring milk up. Especially when she's trying to crawl.

I was told by HV that if the milk she brings up is curdled then I should worry - but if i did that I'd be worrying constantly...

Has anyone else got a baby who sicks up lots? Is it worth worrying about?

This describes my ds almost exactly - he went on to formula at 4 weeks and it settled down a little - however it did get worse again.

Mw, hv and gp all dismissed it when I asked but all eventually agreed it was reflux. Certainly sounds like your dd has it. If she doesn't seem bothered by it then I wouldn't worry at all - if she is putting on weight then she will be fine. You could give her infant Gaviscon which apparently works wonders but I don't think there is any need for it if she is ok in herself.

DS is 32 weeks now btw and although occasionally still brings up the odd bit of milk, he rarely brings up any solid food and is generally much better. They mostly grow out of it by a year old.

There is lots of info out there on reflux - the baby whisperer site is particularly good on it for some reason.

Good grief, my 24 wk old DS pukes constantly, directly after a feed, half an hour later, 2 hours later, you name it. He's bf and seems pretty happy with it, but I have to do a lot of washing .

Some babies sick more than others I think...

Sorry x-posts with Weaselmum, reflux can be a problem if it makes them unhappy and affects weight gain.

god yes, I can tell he's better now as only have to do one load of wash a day instead of two

Altho sometimes, if we're not going out, I leave him in a cheesy babygro for far too long

Infant gaviscon does work wonders, dd is constantly sick without it. That didn't seem to affect her gaining weight, but she was bringing up so much acid bile that she got mild acid burns around her mouth.

lol maewest - ever gone round the house in some questionably smelling jeans yourself - just can't be bothered changing sometimes when I know my next lot of clothes will get puked on too!

deffo Weaselmum, there are some questionable marks on the carpet too. We were at a baby music group the other day and the woman running the group insisted we bounced them up in the air for the Grand Old Duke of York. Lets just draw a veil over what happened next... lol

that's good to hear - i do the same, cheesy babygros, tops and jumpers. i draw the line at more than 2 loads of washing a day.
she doesn't have any problems with weight, as she doesn't stop eating and is in 91st centile so I won't worry. i'll find something else soon enough.
