It's right at the bottom ,a bit on the side, nearly where it joins his collar bone. Are there any glands there does anyone know?
thanks........

lymph nodes my dear
don't worry

Thank you!
I have seen them on his neck before, but a lot higher around ears, but never this low, but according to the pic, prob is, so thats ok. It's really sticking out and he says hurts..

I've never seen these swell up before, either, tigi - they swell up nearest to where the problem is AFAIK, so it's usually ears/jaw for colds and throats - could he have a chest infection?

tigi · 17/01/2007 23:20

no he hasn't..

I was concerned because when he was very tiny he had an abscess on his neck, right under his ear. At the time it was very swollen , so doc said mumps. a second doc, 2 days later then sent me to hosp, and he then needed an emergency operation to remove it. So I never actually saw the start of it, whether it begins like a pea size lump?

I would take him to the GP then, just to make sure it is a run-of-the-mill thing (I'm sure it will be but it will put your mind at rest!)

thanks for your advice, I'll give it till mon, unless gets worse.
