Dd blacked out just now after she got out of bed.

Should I make her a doc appointment? She jumped out of bed having just woken up, looked in her sisters room to see if she was up (right next to her room) and said she couldn't see at this point and was dizzy, then I heard a thump and called her but she didn't answer. I called again and she said 'I'm fine' and then came in and told me about it!
I think it could be a lack of iron maybe?
She is 13.

If it's the first time I am more inclined to go with low sugar - has she been asleep for long? What time was dinner last night?

Her blood pressure probably dropped as she got out of bed suddenly.
Does she have heavy periods? That can cause a dip in blood pressure and iron.
You could try iron tablets, a lot of teenage girls are low in iron.
I would take her to the doctors if she has anymore dizziness or fainting but for now just keep an eye on it.

Yes she had probably slept for 9 hours. Dinner was a few nibbles (yoghurt, strawberries, crisps and banana) last night now I think of it after a big lunch. Not particularly heavy periods.

As a teenager I used to sometimes find everything "went black" if I suddenly got out of bed in the morning. I'd sit down for a few seconds till my vision came back then forget about it so never told my mother or saw a Dr.
It stopped happening after a while and I'm fine now but if the same thing happened to DD I'd want her checked out by a Dr.

I had this as a teenager - either on first getting up or if I'd been kneeling on the floor for a long time and stood up.

My vision would tunnel and go black, I'd get hot cheeks and then my ears would whoosh - think I only passed out properly twice.

They said it was due to low blood pressure and borderline anemia and the only thing to do seemed to be to stand up/get up slowly.

It happened less and less as I got older, and has reappeared a few times (once when I gave up smoking and once on a very extreme diet and also in both pregnancies).
It seems that high blood pressure is a much bigger concern than low for the medical people.
I still have low-normal blood pressure (though not as low) and am still borderline anemic so I guess your body acclimatises!

I still get this most mornings, it's low blood pressure.

I'd take her to the doctor, no point assuming if it's low this or low that. Of course it could just be low iron or sugar but you may as well get her checked out.

Dillig yes me too. I had about 12 months of it. I fainted spectacularly when I was a bridesmaid aged 13 after kneeling for ages. Iron tablets and learning how to recognise I was about to solved it

DD did this at 13\14 now and again she was checked over and nothing was seriously wrong she does have low blood pressure so GP put it down to that

Sounds like low blood pressure (but get her checked out to be sure). She'll probably grow out of it, although I'm 40 and haven't yet. Still, low blood pressure is much better than high and you learn to live with it. My worst problem is with queues.

DD had this for a few years from about the same age, it often happened just before she went down with a virus.
The doctor suggested eating some carbs before getting up, so she used to keep a tin of biscuits by her bed - it did seem to help.

So is low blood pressure dangerous? She does a lot of sport and her sport lasts a good few hours (cricket) of bowling, standing around a bit then a bit more bowling so maybe that affects her too.
Sounds like I need to take her out for a steak as well!

Low blood pressure is not dangerous but when I had it in pregnancy, I was told to take care getting up suddenly and getting out of the bath and to be aware of signs of a faint before it happens.
