Lump on the back of my neck

I have got a hard immovable lump, a bit bigger than a pea on the back of my neck/ base of my skull. It is just below my hairline and about an inch and a half behind my ear. There is a much small spot size bump halfway between the big lump and my ear.

I have googled and think it might be an enlarged lymph gland, but I am not sure. I am not unwell at all, nor have I been recently.

Does it sound like a lymph node? Should I expect to get ill in the next few days :/

(Disclaimer: I worry about illness as a close member of my family is having chemotherapy at the moment and I don't want to pass anything on :( )

Have you had it long, do you know?

I think I'd be getting it checked out anyway. But then I'm not the stoic sort

I forgot that vital information!! I only noticed it this morning, so only today I think (possibly had it before but didn't notice but I don't think so)

It sounds like an enlarged lymph gland to me! It probably means you are fighting something off so hopefully you won't get ill! Should be gone in a couple of days I would expect.

Thanks. Nice to know that illness isn't a certainty!

I had a pea shaped, immovable and firm
lump on my top vertebrae (just beneath my hairline). I took it to the docs and they arranged to whip it out (local anaesthetic - 10minutes). It was just a (sexily named) 'bone deposit' nothing nasty.

If it's still there by the middle of the week I wholly recommend you take your little lump to the doc's and I imagine it'll be one of three things:

A swolled gland
A subcutaneous cyst
A bone deposit

*swollen

Thank you! Hopefully it will just disappear on its on!

This morning- lump is still there, although might be slightly smaller. However the base of my skull just above the lump feels really tender like it has been bruised. My head and neck on that side also kind of ache all the time, and especially if I look downwards.

Any more guesses?
