VERTIGO???

Have been feeling "funny" the last 2-3 weeks, dizzy, weak, light headed, eyes blurry, almost feeling i am going to pass out and sicky too.

Anyone i decided enough was enough so went to see GP, he looked in my ears and did a test on my eyes asking me to follow his finger and he says i have vertigo, my blood pressure was also up quite high...my blood pressure (even when pg) is always 120/60 but today was 142/92.

He has given me some tablets to take, but what is all this about? worried it may be something more sinister now as i am on beta blockers for migraines (which are similar to TIA/mini strokes)i had a small bout of repeated tingling in my arm a couple of weeks back too.

Should i get refered to my neurologist again do you think?

TIA

Feel like i am drunk when i close my eyes, and have lost my balance a couple of times.

I think the vertigo has probably made you anxious and this can put your bp up.Migraines often cause tingling so try not to worry

my mother suffers with vertigo and your symptoms do sound very similar to hers. She desribes it like being on a fairground ride and feels like everything is violently spinning. Her gp advised her that she should actually do things that make the dizziness worse to get rid of it, not sure how that works.

pucca - i have had vertigo associated with my hearing impairment. felt like i was on a ferry in a storm! the only way i could beat it was to lie on the floor and stare at a fixed spot on the ceiling for nearly 2 days!

i would definitely get back to your neurologist if you can, to put your mind at rest if nothing else.

good luck.

What tablets were you given? Spacecadet is very knowledgeable about this subject. Hopefully she might see your post.

pucca · 12/01/2007 23:22

Hi thanks everyone

The tablets i have been given are SERC 16.

The worst is that i am a SAHM to dd 3YO and ds 5month, so not good when feeling like this.

Vertigo is nasty, hate it more than anything else I've ever had. Hope the antibiotics work. Ear infections are soooo horrid, bags of smpathy!

pucca · 12/01/2007 23:41

The funny thing is i haven't been ill at all, not even had a cold at all this winter.

The tablets are not antibiotics they are to control the fluid in my inner ear.

thanks for the replies.

Oh, OK, still feel just as sorry for you anyway.

pucca · 12/01/2007 23:43

They are to control the pressure i meant to say.

Thanks Edam,

Pucca, sympathies.
I had labyrinthitis (a viral infection of the inner ear) a few years ago. It came on quite suddenly. Didn't have a cold and hadn't been unwell. Horrible illness. Took several weeks to fully recover. Had all the symptoms of vertigo. It was awful.
Hope you feel better soon. Not easy with little ones
