Effects of having the mirena coil

I mostly love the coil as it has all but stopped my heavy and frequent periods.

However, I am still, after five months getting a daily discharge - enough to need a panty liner every day.

The nurse said it could take up to 6 months to "settle down" but I am worried the discharge will continue.

Is this a common side effect of the coil? It is my only complaint but it is annoying and I wish it would go away! Has anyone had this and it then stopped?

yes oddly but got less and less but not daily I would imagine because you had heavy and frequent bleeding it may take longer to adjust. Loved the coil had it for 5 amazing years. Must of made a huge saving on tampax and made life so much easier.

It took 6-7 months for mine to settle down.

Thank you Bacon and Wilderness.

I'll hang out for the 7 months then! Bacon, how long did yours take?

And then did you both have no discharge? Sorry for asking TMI!

Mine took six months to settle down completely, and since then I've had no bleeding at all.
