A little bit worried - bleeding after sex

Ah just looking for a bit reassurance as I feel a little worried about this. It's happened twice now the last two times - I start bleeding, both times about a day after having sex. The first time I thought it was a period, I had been taking the pill and missed a couple but it's happened again this week. Enough to need a tampon in, the first time it lasted a week and I'm on day three of bleeding this time. I googled and frightened my self - I have three kids aged 28 and have smoked in the past! I want to make a doctors appointment but I'm also worried they'll just brush it off as something to do with the pill and I'll feel stupid for going! Has anyone else experienced this?

Absolutely get this checked. No one should make you 'feel stupid' for getting a worrying symptom checked. I would want to have a colposcopy referral to ensure this is nothing serious.

I've had this on 2 occasions and both times they were just polyps.

Yes it is worrying, but soon sorted. I had both of mine removed - v quick though and no problems afterwards.

Yes, we do tend to immediately default to worse case scenario, despite the fact that 99% + of stuff turns out to be OK. It's normal to worry.
Being on the pill can make some women have a more 'fragile' cervix, so most odd bleeding turns out to be not significant and/or easily treated.
Good for you to get it checked.

Yep, polyps here too. You've still gotta go and get checked out though.
