Cerazette mini pill and side effects? Or something else?

I went on to Cerazette mini-pill just over 2 months ago (had to change from Microgynon due to headaches and age). Had about a weeks light bleeding in the beginning but nothing since which is quite normal for the minipill I believe. Otherwise no problems.

However the last few days I've had back ache and a low stomach ache as if I'm getting a really bad period. Not a sharp pain but a real ache. I've rarely had painful periods in the past but if I did this is what its felt like the day before and first day.

Is this normal? Has anyone else had this experience? Or is it completely unrelated?

hi. i am on cerazette and no side effect at all. u shouldn't get any side effects with the mini-pill.
Go back to GP & mention your symptoms.

I had horrid side effects on Cerazette.

Where to start, let's see:
Cystic acne on my chest so painful it hurt to carry a bag over my shoulder

NO sex drive for the first time in my adult life.

My depression hit an all-time low

Almost non-stop bright red bleeding.

NEVER again will I take progesten-based birth control. I'd rather be pregnant.

I came off cerazette about a month ago, it stopped my periods and I didn't like it messing up my cycles. I have been on the mini pill before for a few years (femulen I think) and had regular periods on that. Cerazette also made me v irritable and moody.

Didn't have any abdominal pain though... might be worth going back to your gp, it may not suit you. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Blimey expat that sounds like hell!

I'm due to go back to the GP soon as I'll run out of pills in about 10 days so will mention it then. It just seemed an odd side-effect.

(by the way did you see on your posh accents thread I meant Regional Variations on progs not accents ! )

Maybe it works for some folks.

Good for them.

I have PND - hormonal depression.

I've always suffered negative effects from androgens - when I could take the combined pill, it had to be a higher oestrogen one or I'd breakthrough bleed constantly.

Probably not a good idea for me to have tried it.

BettySpaghetti · 12/01/2007 21:54

taffy101 -don't be put off. It seems its OK for some , as mummy2alfies not had problems. I guess its a case of finding one that suits you (even if you have to go through all sorts of crap to get there)
