2 month old, bloodshot in corner of eye

When she had a feed at 9 this morning, it definitely wasn't there. By 11, she had a small patch of blood shot to the bottom and outside of her iris. She hadn't done anything except top and tailing (DH wondered if it could have been caused by cotton wool, but she normally closes her eyes and I didn't do anything different from normal). She's at a frantic stage of trying to suck her thumb, so seems to be rubbing at her eyes a lot trying to get her fist into her mouth (!) - the area of bloodshot seems to be about the size of her finger.

DH thinks that we should just keep an eye on her and monitor it and while I agree, I'd really like some input from other experienced Mums....TIA

I agree that she has probably done it whilst waving hands around and I would also just keep a general eye on it for now.

Thanks for the quick response... and the reassurance!

My dd did that when she was learning to suck her thumb. She rammed her thumb really hard into her mouth as she'd completely missed it
Her eye all puffed up and was very red and sore. it went down after a few days.

Menat to say into her EYE as she'd missed her mouth. DUH

LOL! Thanks. Will keep an eye on it - it looks so sore and they're so helpless But she seems OK, guess it's another of those "worse for Mum" things!
