Have invested in a mooncup. Came on today so am giving it a go. BUT it is sooooo uncomfortable!! I think I'm putting it in right but once its in I can feel it there and its quite painful. Almost like a tampon that isnt in right......you sit down and jump straight back up.....get the picture?? Any one got any good advice?? Failing that anyone in the midlands area that can pop round and slot it in for me???!!!!

i had this problem too ammy..... i have one like a mouses ear too - they're all just jealous

BettySpaghetti · 08/01/2007 19:36

No advice I'm afraid but I just had to tell you that I read your thread title and then clicked on what I thought was your thread (but it wasn't)and the post continued "My Dentist has started doing it" !!!!!

Bloody hell I couldn't work out why your dentist was trying to help you put your mooncup in !!

MrsBeee · 08/01/2007 19:39

yep make sure your stalk is cut nice and short because mine used to rub before i did that. Make sure you have it high enough up - i know in the instructions it says that you wear it low down, but if I wear it low i can feel it and it hurts, so shove it right up there! lol! make sure you have run it under the tap before you put it in too, so that it is nice and slippery and easy to manouvre! once you get the hang of it, it is really worth it, i promise!

ammylovesbabies · 08/01/2007 19:39

All the stalk can go? Do I not need a little bit to pull it out? DP is laughing too much at me walking like I've got off a horse to help me.

I cut the stalk off a bit at a time taking about 3 goes to get it to the "stop being uncomfortable" stage. I'd recommend doing it this way rather than taking it all off in one go.

PoppiesMum · 08/01/2007 19:42

Yes, cut off most of the stalk - I left a tiny bit (just enough for me to grab between thumb and finger)

It took me a fair few goes before I got it right - make sure it's wet before you try and insert it, relax and breathe out slowly while you put it in!

It is worth persevering with, honest

ammylovesbabies · 08/01/2007 19:45

Have cut most of stalk off and it feels a bit better. Can at least sit down. Was worried I'd got wrong size. I got an A cos have had a baby. Does it take a while to get used to? Can still feel it there.

All my stalk is gone. Was making me sore. I just grab the bottom of the cup and give it a slight squeeze to remove.

CrocodileKate · 08/01/2007 19:46

Ooh yes it also has to be slightly wet for me to insert. Can't do it dry.

NannyL · 08/01/2007 19:47

I cut the whole stalk off of mine too.

i dont feel it at all when its in!

btw i think its the best investment ive EVER made i love my m/c

CrocodileKate · 08/01/2007 19:47

It took me three cycles to sort mine out. Nearly aimed it a few times but wouldn't part with it now.

NannyL · 08/01/2007 19:47

I runn mine under the warm tap before i insert it the 1st time too

Skyler · 08/01/2007 19:49

OMG I haven't cut any of my stalk off at all. What does that say about me???

ammylovesbabies · 08/01/2007 19:51

have cut more stalk off- see what you mean. But still know its there. Could it be too big? Perhaps I have got a mouses ear...

Have you tried twisting it round a bit when it is in - that is meant to make the suction work.

ammylovesbabies · 08/01/2007 19:55

It is way more comfortable higher up- was prob wearing it too low.

Skyler · 08/01/2007 19:55

Mine did feel really weird to start with before I got the positioning right, plus you will be concentrating on it at the mo. Keep practicing lol.

Skyler · 08/01/2007 19:56

Oh yes I push it up high too.

ammylovesbabies · 08/01/2007 19:56

Have twisted it, it seems to collapse in on itself when I first put it in. strong pelvic floor

I just had to google what a mooncup was, never heard of them b4, thought it was some kind of hippy love making tool!!!!! Think I may try one now tho, I'm intrigued....what's the general view on them?

Skyler · 08/01/2007 20:04

I have only used one for one cycle but I am totally converted. Fab fab fab IMO.

JustIvor · 08/01/2007 20:21

I've used mine for two cycles I think now and I'm converted too.
