Is this a problem ?? Would appreciate some advice.

[Nutcracker]

Dd2 (4) has just come into the living room wearing clean knickers.
I asked her why she'd changed them and she said her others were dirty.
I asked her to get them, and they have like lots of like discharge stains in them. She hasn't complianed of being sore, and hasn't been itching down there.

I've never noticed it before, should i be worried ??

I don't know nutcracker, if its not irritating her i would keep an eye on it. And if your still worried you could take her to the docs. I hope someone has some better advice for you.

I too have a dd aged 4 and if she had discharge in her knickers I wouldn't think twice about taking her to the doctors. With things like that you just can't be too careful. Goodluck

Not normal for 4 years, try NHS direct if you don't want to rush to the GP - they are really good!

My DD (4 yo) has this regularly. She is seeing consultant at Good Hope every 6 mths.

Swab taken suggested intra-uterine infection which at a young age can cause damage to kidneys.

Do get her checked out.

We have to ensure that DD doesn't use toilet paper and just drip drys as she is totally obsessed with rubbing until she is completely dry. Definately not wet wipes. Encourage wiping from front to back.

This thread though relatively short at the moment is of comfort to me. My dd also has had a cheesy kind of discharge recently and I was pretty concerned about it and whisked her off to the GP's (where we also live!!!! and I'm sooooo paranoid about it). She was very nice and told me not to worry as this is quite common in little girls. She didn't give it a label but told me to gently clean the area with some cotton wool and water regularly and prescribed some Timodene creme. My dd often has some irritation in that area. She's very independent about going to the loo herself and wiping etc, so that coupled with other normal childhood investigation that they tend to do she probably had some minor infection. Anyway, the discharge has gone and we just bathe the area with water daily. She also advised loose cotton clothing and not using bubble bath or other soapy products. Hope this is helpful.
BTW she's almost 4.

ps She also had a water infection at 18 months after two weeks of not feeling well but nothing I could put my finger on until it came to a head with very obvious signs of illness, so I'm always a bit wary, but if no other symptoms (fever, not eating etc) are showing, it's probably nothing major but do check it out.

Why do I never preview my messages before posting? After reading it through post-posting, I now realise I may have put the fear of God up you and I apologise.

We keep on top of her problem by bathing regularly with salt water (cooled boiled water just for extra cleanliness).
