T cut a very long story short, I had a missed miscarriage in May 06 due to a blighted ovum. I had to have an ERPC but they did not remove all the bits; I had a large clot that I lost 2 weeks afterwards. Since then I have suffered with intermittent abdominal pains, horrible vaginal discharge, dizzy spells and forgetfulness. I have had 2 scans and a laproscopy which showed nothing, and tests for STDs have all been negative. I don't know what to do next as I seem to have exhausted all lines of enquiry. The last time I went to my GP he said "well what do you want me to do about it? I'm only a gp" when I refused a 4th lot of antibiotics. I am beginning to doubt my sanity...

Um... Only thing I can think of, for the dizzyness is anemea (sp?) I guess the forgetfullness could be explained by that aswell - linked with the dizzyness. Have you had a period since?

Have you had your iron levels checked?

marimoo · 06/01/2007 16:09

Yes, I have had numerous blood tests. As far as I know my iron levels are ok.

oh right. I really cant think then... I had an ERPC then a laparoscopy afterwards and felt awful, but, it was anemia. Was on about 2 or 3 different antibiotics aswell...

Can you not ask to be referred to a gynaecologist?

marimoo · 06/01/2007 17:00

Yes, already been there, which was how I got my laparoscopy. They have referred me back to my gp. I have had periods since ERPC, quite regular but a different type of pain than before. I used to get a really heavy feeling and leg ache, now I get more of a severe tummy ache. Weird.

If the vaginal discharge is not clearing up on antibiotics, surely the GP would have to ask the opinion of your gynae consultant.

marimoo · 07/01/2007 10:43

The consultant's opinion was that it may not be a gynae matter and suggested IBS (?). Quite how that would cause discharge I do not know. It is very frustrating as I feel that they have written me off into the "too difficult" box that is not their remit to deal with. Either that or they think it is all in my mind. I am beginning to think that myself, though not sure even I could imagine the discharge going on...

then he should refer you to a bowel specialist !

ask your GP for another referral to get a second opinion from a different gynae

ibs ..might explain the pain in your abdomen but not the discharge

is the discharge constant ? offensive smell ? bloody ?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 07/01/2007 10:57

marimoo

I would seek a referral from another gynae specialist. Some gynaes are far better than others and I would seek a referral to one in the nearest city to you. I think you've been seen as a "difficult" case and thus written off.

marimoo · 07/01/2007 11:16

Discharge is not bloody, more like mucus (yuk!). I think you are right Attila, it feels like I have been written off. Getting fed up with the whole thing now.

The abdo pain, dizziness and forgetfulness could be related to anxiety. Do you think you are more anxious since you went through this latest health problem? Perhaps the vaginal discharge is normal but heavier. It can be surprising how physical symptoms can be magnified when you are stressed out.
