My 17 month old dd has recently had a bowel biopsy because she really struggles to poo. The dr's found a crack in her bowel cut it away, rejoined her bowel and streached to. Pretty horrific for anyone let alone a 17 month old. She had been doing really well but the past couple of days she's really been struggling to poo yet again. When she eventually goes it's as hard as stones. She eats a very healthy diet, eats tonnes of fresh fruit and even drinks prune juice. But nothing seems to help. THe dr's put her on senna syrup and lactulose which worked but I've been told to stop giving her them. Has anyone got an ideas or any experience of such a problem. It's awful watching her trying to poo you can visably see just how much pain she's in trying to go. Any suggestions would be appriciated.

Would she let you massage her tummy? My dd is only 20 weeks so not sure what 17 month olds let u do.

does she drink lots of fluid?

She'll only let me massage her tummy when she's trying to go. I think she finds it quite comforting when she's really struggling. She can get herself into a right tizzy.

She drinks loads. She's always got a cup of water or prune juice and if she can't find hers or it's run out she'll pinch her brothers. It's so frustrating not knowing what's causing it and when the dr's can't give you an explanation I'm at my wits end now.
