Terrrible wind

Can anyone recommend something to please relieve the symtoms of wind. My DS (nearly 6) suffers from terrible wind, he seems to be blowing off all the time. The smell of the wind is mindblowing and very embarrassing. Sorry tmi!

I can't pin point what is causing it, but its been going on for a while and if it doesn't stop, I may take him to the docs.

Thanks

fennel tea? If you can get him to drink it you'll be lucky (I quite like it, it's aniseedy) but maybe you can get fennel in tablet form or something.

does he eat sweets?

sorbitol (in haribo and others) causes vile wind

Does he eat too fast? It is very old fashioned I know, but chewing thoroughly, sitting still and eating at a leisurely pace and washing it all down with plenty of plain water might be a good starting point.

Then cut out artificial sweetners, additives etc. If that doesn't help, consider food intolerances such as wheat and / or dairy.

Keep a food and symptoms diary.

Thanks for your replies all.

No he doesn't eat any sweets or foods with artificial additives - he's always been a very fussy eater, so foods like that don't appeal to him (which in a way is good, as there is only a few funk foods he will tolerate).
The food intolerance is a good point. He drinks a lot of milk (probably addicted to it lol). But not sure how I can limit that, he really likes his milk and I have managed to limit it to 3 glasses a day.

I will try the fennel tea or tablet and keep an eye on the diary products.

Thanks again all.
